What does the Idiom ‘Laugh All the Way to the Bank’ Mean?
To laugh all the way to the bank means to earn lots of money with little effort; to make money on something that was considered worthless or useless.
This phrase has been in use since the 1960s and is derived from an image of a person who made lots of money on something that other people thought was stupid.
He would definitely feel smug and very happy at having been rewarded with loads of money.
Let’s see an example —
“People thought he was foolish to invest so much money in a fledgling startup. But it was he who laughed all the way to the bank when his startup was sold for 30 million dollars.”
The example is self-explanatory, guys. I hope you got it.
